In
early 1998 Airwire began building a wireless network for commercial
local loop services bringing broadband solutions to businesses in
several mid-sized cities. The premise was that properly managed,
fixed wireless technology could deliver broadband Internet, data, voice
and video for businesses and finally offer a reliable and cost effective
alternative to traditional ISP's and the telephone company.
Later
that year, Airwire launched its first commercial wireless network in
Melbourne, FL. In April 1999, the company followed up by launching the 2nd
phase of its wireless footprint in Orlando, FL. Also in 1999, the company
opened up a 6,000 square foot Network Operations Center (NOC) and
co-location facility also in Melbourne.
Airwire has successfully overcome the rigorous testing of a start-up
operation and now utilizes patent pending technologies and unique network
design to offer bandwidth-deprived businesses a viable alternative to
traditional access solutions. Airwire has successfully deployed two
wireless Metropolitan Area Networks in Central Florida and offers a wide
portfolio of access services in over 30 cities primarily concentrated in
the Space coast and metropolitan Orlando. Airwire has consistently proven
to be an attractive alternative in the increasingly competitive race to
provide affordable, broadband Internet connectivity and “last-mile” local
loop services.
Airwire’s corporate headquarters, NOC, and co-location facility are
located at 904 E. New Haven Avenue, Melbourne, FL 32901.
